In order to celebrate 60 years of involvement in the gentlemanly sport of yachting last month, Rolex handed out stunning Yacht-Master watches at one of the world’s most prestigious regattas, the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, resulting in a wonderful season totally.
As we all know, first held in 1945, the 628-nautical mile race is one of the most prominent and important sailing events among the 15 major international regattas that Rolex now sponsors around the world. The iconic replica watch manufacturer has been a sponsor of the Sydney Hobart Yacht Race since 2002, and it was about ten years since the Yacht-Master line of watches was firstly introduced to their catalog.
It was In 1958 that, after introducing their highly water-resistant Submariner line of dive replica watches five years later, Rolex wisely forged a ‘privileged relationship’ with the most elite circles in boat racing, by cooperating with several of the sport’s most exclusive and influential yacht clubs, including the New York Yacht Club in Newport, RI; the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes, UK; and the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardinia. Based on Sail World, the 2019 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race took place between December 26th and December 31st, was challenged by a hugely diverse and competitive 85-strong fleet which consisted of experienced and talented sailors, and was one of the most exciting competition in 73-year history of the race incredibly.  
After a difficult battle with the 100-ft. maxi yacht, Wild Oats XI, it was Phillip Turner’s 66-ft. ship, Alive that won the race finally by judged. The sleek, Reichel/Pugh designed boat is the first yacht from the isolated Australian island of Tasmania to win the race since 1979. It was at Grand Chancellor Hotel in Hobart, Tasmania (where the race ends) that the Official Prize Giving hold, attended by Patrick Boutellier, the General Manager of Rolex Australia presiding together with regatta officials, including the Governor of Tasmania and the Commodore of the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania.
Alive skipper, Duncan Hine received three trophies totally, including the coveted Tattersall Cup, and was also presented with a particle engraved Rolex Yacht Master for the overall win in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. Since it was the first yacht to cross the finish line, Turner also received a Yacht-Master for ‘line honors’. Boutellier said that they are very proud to be a part of this race along with Rolex replica at the prize giving. What should point out is that the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is rather a wonderful thing among many events that they support worldwide.
