Rolex, one of the oldest watch brands, has been making quirky and creative watches, if not always. I firmly believe that this record comes not just from the “because we can” approach, but from the “because we must” approach. This is an important question to ponder, not just for us watch aficionados, but also for Rolex’s competitors.
All too often, I see how convenient it is to look at high-end watchmaking as the proving grounds for technical refinement, engineering capability, and manufacturing complexity in isolation. Creative replica watch designs, by contrast, tend to have a “take it or leave it” element that is almost considered irrelevant if there is enough technical importance to divert attention from the tedium caused by uncreative representations.
That said, I truly believe that the extent to which a brand is creatively exciting matters to every one of us watch-lovers — we just don’t talk about it as much as we do about pricing, watch movement performance, or the controversies around design elements. A brand’s ability to occasionally take itself less seriously is a rare and important treat. If a brand isn’t relevant in its design, it will soon grow irrelevant in other ways, as well.
We must stick to the point of discussing this new Daytona and not go off-topic too much, but what is a thought-provoker if not such a watch from replica Rolex? It makes me think of other brands I really appreciate and have owned previously: IWC and Jaeger-LeCoultre. Two mighty-awesome brands with fancy factories, rich histories, and more established watch collections than one could shake a stick at… and just see how much less time we have recently spent talking about these two.
They, and other established brands like Blancpain and Breguet, enjoy less time in the limelight than they used to just several years ago. And while they can survive on luxury conglomerate money and by selling bucketloads of basic Reversos, vintage-inspired “novelties,” and the rest, wouldn’t you agree that there used to be so much more buzz when we had charming Master Compressors, crazy Extreme LABs, high-tech Ingenieurs and the like?
Sure, we might have ended up buying base Reversos and classic IWC Pilots just the same, but we have contemporary replica watches that attract us to these brands, not just ambassadors, partners, and products that live exclusively in the past. However, my point is that they should not be limited to technical excellence, but should also focus on modern aesthetics.

Released in 1945, the Rolex has been one of the most iconic and recognizable watches in the world. Its simple yet elegant aesthetic combines form and function perfectly, giving the wearer a timeless look, while also offering 100m water resistance and the ability to automatically change dates.
Even though the Datejust has always been a fan-favorite and remains fake Rolex’s best-selling watch of all time, as the years passed, it is classic 36mm sizing wasn’t fitting everyone’s needs or preferences. There’s even a version with a mother of pearl dial and diamond hour markers that’s a totally striking and luxurious take on this modern classic. However, there is one particular version of the larger Rolex Datejust that has experienced a significant degree of popularity among collectors, and that’s the White Rolesor Datejust 41 in Oystersteel and white gold.
Offered with the choice of white, black, silver, blue, or rhodium gray, the classicly-styled dial finishes off this modern-day Datejust 41, and all dial colors work equally well with its monochromatic White Rolesor construction.
What’s more, hour marker options include lume-filled stick indexes, Roman Numerals, or diamonds, all of which perfectly compliment the Datejust collection’s signature date window at three o’clock that sits under the brand’s trademark Cyclops magnification lens.

That’s where the $5,700 Spitfire chronograph gets interesting. Retro timers come in all shapes, sizes, and prices. How does Spitfire compare to some of the other key players in this area, given the steel model’s ability to compete in size, functionality, and brand appeal?
For a steel timepiece with an aviation background, Speedmaster Professional is a perfect choice, and for good reason. This is the iconic moon watch. That said, it is also common, hand-wound, using hersarite crystals, and without the military proximity style that defines Spitfire. It’s an iconic timepiece from a truly amazing brand, but in my opinion, it’s also a slightly boring option (especially in standard specs). And while that may be so good, the curse of the cents doesn’t feel the need to mess with decades of formulas (or maybe not because they don’t want re-certify’s manned spaceflight the best replica watches). Cranky people just feel, to me, fresher, more interesting, and more fun.
Recently released from Fremont, the arrow is part of the brand’s new armed forces, designed for use in various branches of the British armed forces. The green arrow is a beautiful, automatic timepiece 42mm in diameter with a hardened steel case and a single guide, based on the Sellita SW510 MP. It’s $1, 000 cheaper than the Spitfire, and while Bremont is certainly a smaller, less well-known brand, Arrow is a strong contender to make the excellent, dynamic and fun pilot chronograph.
Similar to the Spitfire’s temperament, this retro-styled timepiece from the Zeno is made of steel and is based on the motion of the 5-hertz El Primero timepiece, which has a push-back function and looks very cool. But compared to the Spitfire’s advantages, The fake Rolex watch is 43mm wide and much more expensive (like the Spitfire, it is also made of bronze). It’s a great design with romantic military charm and impressive sport, but I’d rather wear spitfire. In many ways, the spitfire timer appeals to the masses as well as to a more distinctive taste — one might be looking for the specific value proposition of a high-frequency, upside-down timer movement.
Very similar in price, there is also a model that harks back to an ancient design language, the new Autavia is 42mm wide steel with more water resistance, and the 12-hour bezel offers Spitfire no match. While certainly different in design from the Spitfire, Autavia’s Calibre 02 is also a movement with cylindrical wheels, providing a stronger 75-hour power reserve. Although the spitfire would fit my wrist better, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to choose between the two. In my opinion, it’s a matter of style and Spitfire wins easily.
This is an interesting example. The old military model, 41mm, and a pillar-wheel timing movement cost about $2,500 less than the Spitfire. The thickness is 14. 45 inches and a 50mm lug, the heat of this lovely Longines (I’m commenting here). While I don’t believe many shopping IWC Longines, the big eyes provide incredible value and charm while the blustery ones have more iconic designs, offer day/date displays, far better crystals, in my hands, feel better, and the price of the finished replica watches (should be).

While Rolex’s lady-Date-Just collection is actually a scaled-down version of a men’s watch, the two collections have very different personalities. Since the full-size models gave up their flagship status in 1956, they have positioned themselves more between the out-and-out dress and the brand’s legendary professional collection.
They have both a simple great that makes them the ideal match for more formal wear, but with an unassuming strength which means they don’t look out of place when called upon to be used as a tool watch.
Much of that is down to their styling and diminutive proportions. Until relatively recently, a 26mm example was as huge as you could get—positively tiny by modern standards. Today those dimensions have increased to keep in line with current fashions, and the series starts at 28mm. In fact, that is the only model officially called a ‘Lady-Datejust’ in the contemporary collection, but the Rolex website also lists the 31mm, 34mm, and even the 36mm pieces on its ‘Women’s’ pages.
It carried on where its predecessor had left off, maintaining its record as the best-selling model Replica Rolex produces. No other replica watches, not even brand icons like the Submariner, the GMT-Master, the Daytona, not even the men’s version, outsells the Lady-Datejust.
By the 1980s and the arrival of the ref. 69173, that range had become really strange. And, in the more luxurious nature of the watch, many of the dials are made of semi-precious stones. Hour markers could be anything from Roman or Arabic numerals, simple stick batons, or, more often than not, beautiful handset diamonds.
To conclude, one other innovation that debuted on the 691XX series, the former acrylic crystal covering the dial was retired and replaced by the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal Rolex had first used on the Ref. 5100 Beta 21 quartz prototype in 1970. As with all of the brand’s date watches since the mid-50s, bar the Sea-Dweller, it featured the Cyclops magnifying lens over the date window.
