Over half a million ethnic Russians now call Uzbekistan home. They arrived as part of the former Russian empire and the Soviet Union.

Many of them now live in the capital, Tashkent, and despite being fully fledged citizens of modern Uzbekistan, they retain much of their cultural and religious traditions.
